What would be the problem with installing a #10 plate in my stock 96 5 speed truck. I see that TST recommends a #11 at max, but I can get a #10 cheaper and was wondering what would it hurt? I am planning on removing the CAT and the muffler. I have a k&N filter but everything else is stock.

Thanks:eek:

First gauges, second #10 plate and 3k GSK or 4k GSK , you need the GSK to get all that is available from the #10 plate, third clutch, fourth turbo Piers HX35 hybrid or ? , fifth injectors, sixth Scotty II air system. I do the GSK at the same time as the plate because I do it from the top down and while changing plates the plate will be out of the way.

Good Luck

Bruce

Do the gauges first. Be prepared to do the clutch if you do the plate next. It won't last. You will also want the 3K or 4K GSK. My recommendation is figure out where you want to take the truck and what you are going to use it for. It will save $$ in the long run.

Rams-n-hogs all the planning ahead is good idea, but Bombing is addictive and can be almost fatal. I only started wanting to boost HP to 250 hp, and I am now double that and still going up.

Happy Bombing

1dslram,

Yeah, I know - same thing happened to me. And I'm still not done. Just not ready to part with any more $ for the time being. I'm to the point of thinking I want another truck to REALLY BOMB. Especially since now I want stacks, but I have a slide-in camper. The two won't go together.

#10

What do I have to do to make my truck live with a #10 plate? I am not able to change the turbo or the exhaust. I am just going to gut the convertor. If it will not live with this plate does anyone have a #11 they would like to trade a #10 for? I really would like to have a #11.

Remove the cat not gut it, you will have the same problems with the #11 plate. If you want to play you got to pay. Extra horses aren't free they make the weak spots show up. You would be best to leave the truck stock until you can start out knowing that there is an additional cost to the extra horses. All of us must pay now or pay them later as the commercial says.

I put a #10 in mine when all I had was a K&N and no cat or muffler. I had gauges and the EGT's wouldn't go crazy unless I was towing or had my foot in it for a long time. My stock clutch with 130k miles on it was fine but I was very careful about rolling on the power instead if just flooring it. I was planning on a clutch and GSK... . anyway

If you don't plan on buying a clutch or gauges in the near future then keep looking for the #11. I you do, I say ditch the cat and muffler then put the plate in. If you put the #10 in just don't go loading it up (hills etc. ) until you get some gauges.
