And the question is ... ... ... ... ... ... ... What is "pulse width extension?"

tic, tic, tic, tic... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... .....

OK Bob, I read it, didn't understand it, therefore you get "0" points. :p

Let's try it like this... .....

Does this mean 10% added to the ratings on the left or... ... ... ... . ?

Thanks, Rob

I'll try to put in a way that even rob can understand this... ;):p:p:p

I couldn't find a good definition but my understanding is.....

a pulse width is the time which a square wave signal is considered high. ex: the circuit rests at 0v and is activated when the signal is at 12v. pulse width is the time that the signal is recieved. pulse width extension is used by some systems to extend the signal length. ie from 5ms to 7ms. inter cept a pulse or watch for the end of it and add onto it.

I have been told that fueling boxes use this on our trucks but i'm not enirely sure that's accurate.

Pulse Width Extension----since this isn't a urology/viagra forum.......

... ..... I bet M. K. 's right. Doesn't seem like the "chip" can increase the fluid pressure thru the nozzle (thereby delivering a greater volume of fuel in the SAME duration time), so to get more fuel, it's gotta have longer duration, (I suspect starting the injection pulse earlier and ending at the same time, though I could be mistaken there)

Okie-dokie, what I want to know is, according to the picture above, is the comp level "supposed" to have 10% more power, or not. If it is, than why don't they just say that, it woulda' give us laman types, one less thing to ponder, I hate $5 words. :{

Sittin' here scratchin' my scalp, (didn't wana say head, 'onnacounta Mark raggin' on me  ),

Yes they are saying that there should be 10% more.

Pulse width extension is used in fueling boxes but it isn't the only thing used.

Rob, what you do with your head is none of our business:p:p:p:p

no, they don't increase pressure but they can increase the length of time that fuel is injected into the cylinder. they can also affect the timing of the crank/cam position sensor and affect timing.

When....

I bought my VanAAken, it was clearly explained that the width of the injector pump's nozzle pulse was lengthened to deliver fuel to the injector for a longer period of time. The longer the pulse width, the more fuel flows through the injector. The timing change is controlled by the location of the ramp up (in crankshaft rotation) of the fuel pulse. The fuel pulse begins sooner. Those little boxes are pretty simple but also pretty amazing little devices!

Cool, Thanks guys, see that was simple.

and Mark, you don't get any points either, you didn't explain it right the first time. :p ;)

It was simple but it just doesn't sound as cool. :D

I'm still on the fence about buying a PM3 comp or and Edge comp, haven't decided yet. :( Hoping someone at Muncie can show me the difference between the 2. ;) (Hint, Hint);)

Ramthis1,

Let us know what you think about the performance of the two systems. Not much chance of getting to one of those performance get togethers from Hawaii.

Thanks,

Dan
