My dealer is trying to keep me happy with my truck by giving me a 100,000 mile bumper to bumper $0 deductable extended truck warranty. Suppose to be the best one that Chrysler offers.

Is this worth anything?

OR is there a catch if you need to use it? RE---Do you have to get ALL service work done there or Do they look for any little reason to deny it if you try to claim on it ?????

WOW 100,000 mile Bumper to BUmber. I have the 70,000 Bumper to Bumper on mine... Not sure if that was offered to me??? I did get free oil changes for 70,000 miles as well!

100,000 / 7yr

djbobo,

I had that waranty on my last 2 trucks and I loved it. They cover everything except wear items (headlights / brakes / shocks).

I was VERY happy with it. Take the offer, it's a really good package. Also, if you sell the truck, it's transferable and a good selling point.

I know the Cummins has 100,000 on it, but they always F with ya if it's not an internal part. With the waranty, they just fix it.

I paid $1995 ($300 off) for the 7 year 100K $100 ded service contract. When you say "giving" it to you, is that for no charge? If so, TAKE IT. As far as maintaining the warranty, I assume the requirements would be the same as Dodge 3/36 warranty that comes with the truck.

Here's a link to the service contract website http://www.servicecontracts.chrysler.com/

I bought (upgraded) my warrenty to include the 5 year 100k mile bumper to bumper warrenty. It cost me $1200 and does cover everything including a 'gap protection' plan, death benifits, guaranteed loner car, etc.

I think its worth it!!!!!!!!!!! :D

I am going to buy it for my truck. But they quoted me 1600 for the 5yr 100k and that is with the employee discount. With a $50 deductible.

How are you getting 1200 for it??

My 02 came with the 10yr/100,000. What a deal. I'm disappointed my 04 didn't. Oh well, guess I was just fortunate with my 02.

Correction: 7yr/100,000

Yep 'giving' it to me for free.

It sounds like it's a substantual offer.

This dealer is doing its best to keep me happy about them stumped with my 4x4 problem. or should I say Lack of 4x4 problem. They even swaped the X-fer case out last week with a new truck that was on the lot. I told them to just take out the electronic 4x4 switch & throw in a manual lever like one in a SLT model but they didn't want to -- I guess if they did that it would be admitting defeat-- so in goes a new wireing harness monday tuesday and posibly..... wednsday???? I sure hope they figure it out for their own sanity sake.

Otherwise this truck runs flawless. It will definitly be a keeper when its fixed. I had the electronic 4x4 in my 03' & it worked great, so it really suprised me to have so many problems with the 04'. They replaced swithes , modules , twice & now even a new x-fer case. They thinking that there is something in the wireing harness that keeps on blowing the modules. we'll see next week.

thanx for the replies.

I have the DC 7 year 100k zero deduct warranty and paid $2600 for it. i just wanted the peace of mind. My 98 12v was ALWAYS in the shop.

I paid $2000 for mine. I wish I had done my research before I bought the warranty. I researched the truck pretty well, but it didn't even occur to me to research the warranty. They did kind of a hard sell on the warranty, which was irritating to me. It sounds to me that I probably overpaid somewhat, but it also sounds like it's a pretty good warranty. I do intend on keeping the truck for the entire warranty period, so I think it's a good thing to have.

extended warranty can be a good thing. if you abuse your machine you should buy one. i put 28 in. outlaw mud tires on my atv (700 polaris), 1 broken axel can pay for that. i put extended on my 93 dodge-it payed for 2 pumps and 2 getrag 5 speeds. other than that i never buy them . odds are you will never use it. if it lasts mfg. warwanty, odds say it will last.

Back from dealer for last time

before a possible buy back.

The harness is installed & if the service 4x4 light returns it has been agreed to buy it back.

I don't want to give up my 555 so I hope it's fixed this time. But we'll see in a few days.

Has anyone else ever seen the 'SERVICE 4x4" dash light ?? It sure has given me & my dealer alote of greif.

Too many warranties to keep track of!!!

Base warranty 3 year/36,000 miles all except wear items

Engine warranty 10 year?/ 100,000 miles all lubed engine parts?

Power train warranty/service contract 7year/70,000 or 7 year/100,000 on some models covers trans. rear end and?? that Cummins warranty does not cover.

At additional charge you can buy lots of options with various years/mileages. Some with deductible and some without. These are very profitable for the dealer and DC. I'm just got a mailing from DC yesterday with the solicitation for the Extended Care/ Maximum care service contracts. The 7 year/100,000 mile warranty was about $2,400. 00. I have some experience with Manufactures service contracts and will guess at these figures. Dealer cost for this warranty about $1,100. 00 DC probably has a actuarial experience of about $600. 00 loss for this product. That does not mean you will not have a $5,000. 00 part covered by it. That just means the average loss is $600. 00 across all the vehicles (Dodge Ram diesels)they sell. IT IS A MONEY MAKER FOR DC. If you take your $2,000. 00 and put it in the bank you can self insure and come out 80% of the time. Are you willing to gamble on the 20% of the time? We gambel each day on less thasn 80/20 odds. Cummins is covering the most expensive pieces for 10yr/100,000 miles. DC is covering the next most expensive with the Power train warranty. The AC and the electrical are the other high dollar parts that are not covered by these warranties.

7yrs. /100Kmi @ $0 deductable? Is it worth anything? Ck DC's website. That's the better part of $3K worth of freebie. Take it and run.

I bought DC's 5yrs. /$100k @ $100 and 7yrs/100k worth of DC Dealer oil changes for under $3k. I put 20kMi/yr just to and from work, so I wanted that 100k (5yrs. for me) bumper to bumper coverage. The oil changes alone were around $500. . which works out to $19/change with Mopar factory oil and filter at DC's dealer (can get one every 3k miles).

I bought the "lifetime" lube oil filter deal from the local dealer but... I read the fine print that said I had to get the service at the selling dealer. After reading that, I sold it back and pay the $40 every 3000 miles. At the rate I drive, it would have been several years before I het the break even mark on that deal.
