Competition 1000 HP Suburban

Competition Sun Coast Launches a Winner!!

OK you guys, I don't spend alot of time reading the competition forum, mostly towing, hauling and RV and the 3rd gen trucks. A buddy and I bought matching '03 3500 ETH DEE trucks and are slowly starting down the modification path. Found a shop in town here and the guy claims to have a 5. 9 Cummins in his Suburban pushing 1,000 hp and 2,000 ft lbs. He's a former BD employee. apparently and other than the fact its got twins, my buddy wasn't able to tell me much about the guy's mods. I told my friend that its possible, but unlikely. My question is: what does it take to make that kind of power? I would guess propane, methanol, twins, custom injectors, fuel system, custom cam, etc. etc. I am going to try to see this thing for myself and would just like to know if its real or wishful thinking. I don't like to buy stuff from people that are full of ****.

Thanks

Dave

Thanks guys,

I realize that unless he dynos it, it's only a fairy tale, but I am wondering if its even possible and if the answer is yes, then what would it take?

Thanks

Dave

ps. They advertise "Okanagan's only 1800 HP Dyno"

There are shops who have exceeded 1000 hp with twins on Diesel Fuel, albeit, they are not on the street.

At least one of these engines will be on the dragstrip, this summer, more than likely 05.

Not having a clue who those guys are, I would guess they prolly have a 600 hp engine on Diesel, then added Nitrous and decided it should have 1000hp.

West Coast dynos always seem to run about 200-300 hp high anyway.

If the guy claims 1000hp in his daily driver, I would say prove it. That kind of power is not going to be very friendly on the street.

"I would guess propane, methane, twins, custom injectors, fuel system, custom cam, etc. etc. "

Shoot... . if methane gives that guy 1k HP... . then I'm easily at that level already. Now I just have to plumb it into the intake... :-laf

I'm confident that there are at least a handfull of trucks that are @ 1k+ HP... . BUT, they ain't talkin'.

Jim Fulmer said it best when he described how his truck sounds/runs @ ~800HP... and then compared it to some of the infamous possible 1k HP trucks... . he quickly came to the conclusion that they HAVE to have at least 1k HP.

All it takes is money and a few phone calls to make it happen.

Matt

Thanks for the replies,

It sounds like its possible, but unlikely, just like I thought ;)

I'll get a closer look and let you know more details, but if they have thier own dyno, they should be able to back up thier claims.

Thanks again.

HA! There is alot of that going around!!!!:D

I can't wait until I get to see some of the famed "700HP club" on an accurate Dyno.

If you listen close, you will hear small voices in disbelief,"Dude, that dyno reads low. I made XYZ. HP at ______'s shop!!"

Have fun , and keep an open mind!

;)

i probably wouldn't know a 1000hp truck if i rode in one ...

but after watching sledpullers home videos (awesome by the way)

what would you guys estimate the schieds and enterprise engine trucks are running?

Scheid's truck + Enterprise's truck + Haisley's truck = 3000hp+ at the wheels combined...

They're all within an earshot of 1000hp... . probably more... .

Matt

All 3 of 'em should be there... . they were all there last year.

The year before that... . Dave Mitchell was at another pull. Loretta pulled in his place with her truck, though.

Haisley didn't have a truck to enter the year before last... that I know of.

Scheid has been there all along...

Matt

400 + smoke + mirrors + twins = 1000

stock power x Indio correction factor = 1000

Midwest hp/10 = west coast hp

It's all basic math that they teach in those one-room schoolhouses

:D

As always, Joe takes 4 pages to tell us a 4 sentance story!!

Here, let me show you how to short math the west coast correction factor, its much simpler. .

Step 1) Dyno truck.

Step 2) Take results, add 200.

Done!!

LOL:D

Just like some of these 1/4 mile times. I have yet to find that track that runs downhill so everybody must be "adjusting" there times for the infamous downhill correction factor.
