I am going to order a smarty from Bob after the holidays to stack with my drag comp. I do haul quite heavy loads [15-18k] daily & usually up long hard pulls 5-8% grades that run 5-6 miles long. I borrowed a smarty from Bob & loved it, but it was a little smokey with my current mods. I am going to get some 100hp injectors & hoping that this will take care of the smoke. I love my Dragon flow injectors, but think that the 100hp will be perfect with a smarty & current mods. I was wondering if anyone is running the Super Stock 62 or a Silver Bullet 62 with 100hp sticks? How do the 100hp sticks work for getting the turbo spooling? I have no egt problems with the 150's, but this low boost smoke with the smarty is uncontrollable. I think that it will work fine, but want a opinion from guys who are running them.

I am running a silver 62 and had 90 hp sticks and had to run the comp on at least 3-3 and hard throttle to get any boost from it with smarty on level 4 with comp on 4-4 it spooled better. I went to 150 sticks about a month ago and can get it to spool at level 2-2 real easy. I posted this info in product accessories engine transmission it thread silver 62 look there.

If you want to reduce the lowend smoke go with the standard PS62. We are running a PS62 with 150 sticks and a drag comp and it is an awesome combo..... By going with the Smarty, a PS62, and 100 HP injectors you will be good. The Silver 62 just takes too much fuel to make it happy for what you are looking for. Also try running the Smarty on some of the middle ranges as level 8 and 9 fuel the most at low boost.

I have no problem at all getting my super stock 62 to make 40 psi. I have the LDP wheel & it lights off fast with the injectors alone & no box. Only problem that I am having is the smoke that I roll out from a stop sign when I had the smarty installed. I had these injectors with a HTB2 62/12 & a 62/14 that I ran & they didn't build boost fast enough for me. The 62/12 came in quick, but didn't reach peak boost fast enough for the loads that I carry. I've pretty much tried all the turbos that HT offers & wouldn't even consider giving this one up. I don't have much problem with the smoke with my current setup, but I want a smarty. I just don't want to not see traffic when pulling out from a stop.

When I run smarty on level 4 with comp on 2-2 or below there are no smoke issues a haze is normal but not bad. On level 3-3 and up the smoke come into the picture (for those behind me) :-laf It takes a while to get used to the smarty the first week of playing with the 150 sticks and silver 62 landed me on level 4.

I couldn't believe the power of the smarty. I loved the combo with the 150's, but the smoke is uncontrollable when towing. It pulled the ---- out of the trailer though. I am definately getting a smarty, but with it installed... . there is no need for the 150's. I wasn't paying attention pulling out from a stop. When the smoke cleared... . I realized that I just ****** off everyone following me. I saw alot of "birds" & thats not good when you own a business & have your name on the back window. I felt like such a ---! I hate to give up the Dragons, but tired of getting hate mail.

What about boost leaks? I have very little smoke with the box on 1 but more with just the smarty and the tst on 0 . I also love my Super stock 62 .

I have no problem empty, but only when towing heavy & pulling out from a stop. Of course they smoke a haze empty, but when towing... . it is bad! I never have problems with my current mods towing, but after getting a smarty test drive..... Its a gotta have for towing. I will be getting one & just want to lose some of the soot cloud.

I just had the engine installed by Advance Diesel Tech. & they checked it for boost leaks before it left. I will check again, but I don't think it is leaking. I am spooling the turbo at 1300 & reaching peak boost at 1600. The SS turbo is awesome & I love the quick spoolup. I only hope that I can still have the spool, but less smoke with smarty. I tried running smarty on 1/2 fuel & using my comp to get it spooling, but that didn't work. I'm gonna ask Brady, but I've heard that the 10 hole dragon flows are really 200hp+. If this is true than maybe this is the problem. When I purchased them Brady said that they are 150's, but guys are saying that they are bigger.

The only way you are going to get less smoke than you currently have is to run the Smarty on a lower level, or go with smaller injectors. Due to the aggressive fueling and the timing of the Smarty smoke is just going to happen. You are spooling the turbo fast and that is what reduces the smoke, (although I feel the Smarty retards low end timing aggressively to help with spoolup but at the cost of smoke).

Thanks for the replies everyone... this is why I love this site. I am gonna try a little smaller injector & I think it will do fine.

Just curious, this part caught my eye Doug and got me to wondering what makes you think that?

If I stepped down to a 125hp injector... would it make much difference in the smoke? Anyone running the 125's with a super stock 62? I think that it is possible that these dragon flows are rated higher than 150hp... . anyone know? I tried to call Brady & left a message, but no call back yet. I ran a set of 90hp injectors for 10k miles & when switching to the 150's... . egts went up about 250* @ any rpm. This was when I ran a htb2 64/14. The SS 62 got me back down to 1200 max when towing [using the pedal to control egts] which is good, but the smoke is thick @ low boost. The 90's would only smoke on 5x5 on the comp. Is 125hp injectors clean like the 90's were or should I take the big leap to 100hp?
