During the last few minutes of paperwork and $$ transactions the day I picked up my new truck, my salesman, who up to this point was doing pretty well in my book, suddenly goes

"I would like to tell you about our D/C extended warranty program. " and I go "yeah?" and he goes "It's called the Diesel Wrap" and I go "what??" . It was about all I could do to keep from laughing in his face :rolleyes: I just said "No thanks" as I tried to keep the huge smirk off of my face. . .

vaughn , from what i've read about the diesel wrap in the past its actually a pretty good deal , if you don't dbring the truck in for anything between the 36k and 100k point you get refunded the cost of the warranty , minus a 50 buck fee for paperwork . they never said a thing to me about it , but my extended warranty was already paid for twice with a little mishap i had :p

The "Diesel Wrap" warranty dealer cost is around $800 and is a mark up contract... ..... that is to say that they will sell it for whatever the market will bare. My dealer charged me $825 as a favor to me and I took it. There are several differant stages of the package... ... . make sure that you get the premium one. With the "wrap", It's their truck, less a $50 deductable, until 100K. I am in the Biz and I bought it. mi dos pesos... ... ... .

I had the Diesel Wrap on my 98. 5. I paid $900. 00 for it.

Used it for

1- track bar

1- steering gear box

1- Steering stabilizer

1- Lift Pump (No deductable said to be under engine 100k warranty

)

1- Pinion Shaft Seal.

This was after the 36,000 mile warranty Total deductable $100. 00.

I purchased it because of the Auto transmission but didn't need it there.

I may look into purchasing the same before I get out of the 36K on my 01. 5 2500.

I should add that I had the front end work done by a dealership other than where I purchased the truck and when I pulled out this warranty card they acted like it was a Gold Mastercard.

I purchased the "premium" diesel-wrap coverage for my 2000 CTD RAM because of the known transmission issues and general "bad feeling" I had about Team-DC because of a former girlfriend's HORRIFIC experiences with her Dodge Dakota V6.

The big selling point was that the warranty was tossed in "at cost" as my dealer put it, which corresponds to what somebody else said earlier in this thread to abour $800-$850. I was NOT aware of the clause that stated if you don't use it between 36K and 100K that you get your money back. That's just an added bonus!

My truck has 25K miles on it, and is 18 months old. At this rate, I'm targeted to have full warranty coverage until the point the truck is "paid off". Then, I can decide at any point from there to trade it back to D/C if it develops a costly problem.
