My 03 just ran out of the 70K Wrap Around warantee. I still have 30K or 5 years on the Engine/Powertrain. Where can I find DC Documentation on what is covered and what is not covered. I have searched the DC warantee web site, but find nothing. Cant surf the web to much with my 24. 4K dial up connection.

Thanks

Paul

Ooops, your right, my mistake. So where can I find a DC Document in detail on what is covered on just the Cummins ? DC hides it well

Paul

It is a dodge warrantee not cummins. Dodge buys these engines with no warrantee from cummins to keep the price down and then supplies the warrantee.

Basic rule of thumb on the 100K powertrain warranty is this.

If it is touched by engine oil. Then it is covered. Front accesories are not.

So... what about the transmission? Engine oil doesn't touch that.

I, too, also own an 03. What is the factory/powertrain warranty breakdown.
Thanks

Dang Wes, that's a pretty good analogy!

Mikey, one of the local dealers told me the 7/70 powertrain warranty was for the first two owners and covered the TQ and back. He said the 100,000 mile engine warranty didn't matter how many owners the truck has had.

I'd just call your dealer. They can type in your VIN and tell you everything.

There's one othe really good way to tell what is covered and what isn't: If it just broke, it isn't covered.

Do a search for a thread titled "Has Daimlerchrysler taken you for a ride?"

See if that situation applies to your truck.

transmission isn't covered.

For example my 06 came with a 3 yr 36,000 mile "bumber to bumper"

5 yr 100,000 mile Powertrain

transmission warrenty will run out at 36,000 engine at 100,000

It appears that there is no DC Document available to Owners that details what is covered on 100K engine warantee. If this is true, DC can spin it any way they choose and we have nothing to hold their feet to the fire.

The point of this is simple this. If you know what is covered, you go to the dealer. If its not covered, fix yourself or go to a repair place of your choice.

Open the glove box and take out the limited warranty book that came with the truck. It spells it out very clear. Second option is to have the dealer run the VIP on DealerConnect and it also spells out in remaining time and mileage what the coverage is.

Wait a second... . Is the reduced warranty a new thing? My '03 had a 7/70 powertrain according to the dealer.

Yes it is a new thing. I'm not sure if it started in 05 or 06, but it is now 3/36 BTB and 5/100 on the Cummins. DC is all about differentiation. As Ford and GM move to longer warranties, DC is making the "bold" decision to shorten theirs. My 3/36 warranty was gone 8 months into ownership...

Some of you are saying 5/100 powertrain. That is wrong. The 5/100 only applies to the Cummins motor, not the entire drivetrain.

There have been several variations to the warranty time frames in regard to powertrain and the cummins. You should have gotten a book entitile "Owners Manual Warranty Information". It might be worth breaking the seal. They give a mildly detailed explanation of what is and is not covered.
