My 7yr/70K mile wrap around warantee expired today at 70K miles. I still have 30K miles left on the 100K mile Cummins Warantee on my 03.

What is really covered on the Cummins ? Specifically, is the Injectore Pump, Lift Pump etc covered.

Thanks

I bought my '99 with 26,000 miles on it ... ... ... ... the injector pump was replaced for free @ 98,000 miles.

I bought my '03 with 12 miles on it ... ... ... ... the lift pump was replaced for free @ 100,103 miles.

The '99 was bone stock, the '03 had I believe and EZ on it at the time, with a modded intake and exhaust. But, my dealer knew what I had done and I wasn't trying to be underhaned with him either. As soon as you try to hide stuff, these guys get suspicious.

I had a turbo replaced, and at 99,600 got a new crank from a front oil seal leak. Never had any problems from DC. When she was apart, I took some pics and got a good look at her innards. Nice crosshatch on the bores, I feel good about the long term with this motor. Only other repair was a cam sensor, not a engine warranty part. Had a full wrap 100k policy on it tho.

Otherwise, flawless.

Enjoy!!

Yes the injection pump and motor mounted (canister) lift pump, up to 2005 are covered on your truck by the 5/100,000 engine warranty. In tank LP, 2005 and up, are not covered by engine warranty.

You think the decision to move the LP was a fiscal decision and not only a physics one? Sure, pushing is easier on a pump... but move the LP to the tank, have less warranty costs in the long run by virtue of it not being a part of the Cummins assembly. And we all know that DC warrants the engine, not Cummins.

Food for thought.

Some have said the in-tank pump is holding up well. GDP has a write up on how it works. I don't know the differences between pumping gas and diesel. I would think it would be slightly harder to pump diesel, viscosity, but maybe it doesn't matter. If not these pumps should hold up well as all vehicles made today use the same arrangement. Some pump mods may have been made for diesel. All other pumps have the same issues. I don't know what type of pump it is. So what I am saying is it looks like a good design decision not just a financial one. Problem is changing a failed one now is more difficult but hopefully you won't have to for a long time. Maybe monitor pressure and when it gets low replace pump. I did a search on dodge OEM parts and found 05-06 5. 9 fuel pump for under $130. I don't know if that is the whole assembly or not. In my opinion these pumps are fine for stock applications and Sunday drivers, non to be found here! :-laf
