Competition Aftermarket Performance Enhancing Cams

Competition Who makes the most Power (drag racing)

Hey I already have a

B1/B2 twins (not yet installed)

Edge Drag Comp

Mach 5's (soon to be 7's)

4. 10's

FASS

Oring, ARP

I know you get these threads all the time but... ...

Do you think I will hit 11's?

What are you guys in the 11's have for a set up?

Thanks

A friend ran 11. 80's in a 02 CC LB 4x4

HX40/HT3B Twins

Drag Comp

Mach 7's (IIRC)

FASS & upgraded fuel lines

DTT full meal deal transmission

5" shorty exhaust

Stock VP44

Truck did not have a tailgate, spare tire, back seat or hub caps.

He built a different set of twins and after very little tuning is in the low 12's so will probably see 11's again.

What-no cam or valvespring change? No HRVP-44? Ported Head? What thickness head gasket are you using? Just the comp alone or you stacking it with something else to get more rpm's? Don't think this recipe you have planned will get you where you want to be... .....

I ran 11. 78 @ 114. 13 in Indy with:

B1 - B2 Twins

Mach 7's

Full ATS transmission

Formula 1 Cam and Head

TST PM3 Comp

Edge EZ

BD RAD

EMJAY Strategy Controller

355 gears

6,800 lbs.

Does a ported head and cam really make much of a difference in all out HP? I've heard It makes for better drivability, and less EGT's, though only makes a small HP increase. . Is this true?

In the attempt for the ellusive 11sec 1/4 mile IF all the modifications hold together, you will probably break the flexplate or the outputshaft if you haven't hardened them. Trying to move a 7000lb truck into the 11s you will find every weak link in the chain. There are two things I see that are going to slow you down. Your big tires and your 4. 10 gears.

Ok more details

*I said I will be o-ringing and doing ARP head studs

*I have a full on DTT w/ billet input I may need the other 2 shafts though.

*When I race I throw on a set of old 285's.

*RPM... My truck redlines out at 122MPH GPS proven. Do I need more?

*Might swap in a redline box w/ MAD if ya think it would be better?

*I have a SO pump so I wont gain much if not any HP from a HR if anyone can prove me wrong please do.

*I heard ported heads dont do much if nothing for more HP just EGT

How does this sound now or should I just settle for 12's and keep my 5's

Member c-hawk ran 11. 85 in his 24v on #2 only... . That truck is the best sleeper I've ever seen.....
Thanks man. :D

BigDan,

I think your setup will put you somewhere between a 12. 10 and an 11. 90. A lot of it will probably depend on the tuning and how good your motor is to start with (they don't all seem to perform equal). I think your 4. 10's will be fine but i'm not certain. In my opinion your going to need about 113mph or a little more to get in the 11's. Is your truck still pulling hard at that speed? It may be getting to the rpm range where power is falling off. Other then that your probably going to want at least a billet output shaft. Your going to need 1. 65 60' or better i think... and that's risky on a stock output.

MEvins,

Man, your truck rolls. I couldn't get into the 11's out at indy. I'm not sure if it was the heat slowing me down that much or if i've got a problem i haven't figured out yet.
