12.25 or 13 in clutch conver ? ASAP!!

I am pulling out the getrag and installing a new NV4500, the old getrag has a 13 inch clutch and pressure plate that sells for $600, the NV4500 has a 12. 25inch cluthc and plate i can buy for $225. Now with this conversion, is there any reason i cant put the 12. 25 clucth from the 2nd get trucks in this truck? Thanks so much for any help!

South Bend Clutch. You wont save by buying the low cost version. I put SB behind my NV4500HD and it is by far the best clutch I've had in my truck. No launch shudder and holds my RWHP quite nicely.

I know the SB clutch is the best out there, i am about to order one for my 01. 5, but what i really need to know is if i can use the 12. 25 inch clutch in this truck, it is not a high HP application.

The clutch should work with the NV4500; the Getrag and NV have the same size input shaft. You may have to change out the flywheel adaptor, but you should ba able to use the flywheel and clutch.



Is the clutch from the Getrag shot? If so, I'd replace it. I'm not sure about the friction surface of the newer ones, but I like the wider cltuch plate on mine vs the LuK pro gold clutch I put in a few years ago. You can find a better deal than $600 for a Getrag clutch, I'd think.
