You need either a prefab unit (Banks) or have a shop modify (shorten at turbo end and reweld ring) the one you have.

Go to your yellow pages and start calling all the exhaust vendors. Find one that can bend 3" pipe and just have them reconfigure your pipe to fit. Increase the radius of the bend coming out of the turbo and just bend it back with another bend under the fire wall.

Hey Jsimpson!

A buddy of mine has just purchased the JRE 3" exhaust complete with Walker #21468 muffler and I was talking with Ted about the installation.

His recommendation (similar to Mark93's) is to cut the mounting flange from the Downpipe 3/4" behind the mounting flange. Then to remove (cut) the additional 1 1/2" (wastegate difference) from the Downpipe and finish by rewelding the removed flange back to the Downpipe and install to turbo housing.

We're doing our install on Sept. 23 using my old 14cm2.

gOT 'ER DONE!!! Its not hard to make it clear the firewall. OK- I had my exhaust brake at the bottom of the downpipe, so I just stuck about another inch into the connector, got a longer bolt and some washers for where it is bolted on at the bottom. the heat sheild was just barely touching that piece of material on the firewall. NOW TO GO SEE HOW MUCH TIRE I CAN LAY DOWN WITH THE NEW HOUSING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! #ad

Don't worry J, the '89s did not have heat shields from the factory. They are a good idea though if you come across one!

Wirenut did you notice a big difference with the 12cm? Also could any one tell me if you still have to modify the down pipe if you use a non wastegated 12cm housing, and what advantages is there wastegated over non,and will a 12cm off of a newer truck work on a 93? thanks. any one know who won the 1st gen show & shine at the rally?

The 12 makes a considerable difference especially with the wastegate disenabled. It spools up very easily and quickly. If you can get one non-wastegated, this would probably be good because you will like its performance without the wastegate and I can't see where you would have to modify the downpipe if it didn't have the wastegate.
