Having just installed an EGT and boost gauge, I was wondering if 25lbs. of boost and 1050(approaching redline in 5th) on the EGT gauge are "normal" numbers? The truck is a 1997 4X4 with a 5 speed, cpl 2175. The numbers seemed a little on the highside to me, any opinions? Oh the Cat is missing and I'm using an OEM style K&N air filter and the fuel plate is stock (as far as I know... bought it used).

Looking forward to next month so as to order up a nice healthy fuel plate (tst#11) #ad

Rebel:

I have a 96' automatic and have recently
done major modifications to the engine.
However, before I did these modifications
my boost was usually around 22-24lbs. and
the EGT's between 900-1100 in "OD" and
at about 2500 RPM which "used" to be my
governor speed. I was and still am using
the TST #5 cam plate which is "close" to
the #11 for the five speed.

Hope this helped you some.

Rebel, the only time I had my truck going that fast(redline is 5th) was before I had the EGT and boost gauges in.
Hauling a 24' TT I can get it to just over 700, if I try. My probe is "post turbo".
I got about 24 psi boost.
My truck has the same engine. 2175.
Yes it may be slightly BOMBED, 1050 is a little high for stock.
Where are you located? Altitude may change it a bit, but I dont think that much.
If youre probe is in the exh manifold(pre turbo), this is probibally pretty close to normal I'd guess. #ad

The turbo wastegae is factory set to open at 23-25 psi.
I have seen up to 1250 deg. in the exhaust manifold with stock 215s.

My EGT probe is in the exhaust manifold and I reside a 6,028 ft. The thing that really got my attention was how fast the egt's climbed when the RPM's were 2,500 and higher. The injector pump dose'nt seem to start to pull the fuel back untill 2,900-3,000 RPM.

Thanks for the replies!
