We got a 12 valve b cummins in at school last week. Enigine came out of a school bus. Some how the bus lost oil pressure. Well evidently the driver didn't watch his gauges. Nor did it have a low pressure buzzer.

The instructor says go look at whats in the oil pan. Ouch ouch! There's enough metal shavings in the pan to decorate a christmas tree. The mains were worn down to the thickness of paper. I was asked to rebuild the motor. I really wanted too. But I need some thing new to work on. Maybe will be working on a M11,N14,855 not sure yet?

I'm gonna see about getting some pics of the poor little 12 valve. Its got me thinking about a low pressure buzzer now. Looks like this one will cost the bus company about 4k to 8k for parts and rebuilding. :(

PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Keep the thread up to date on what you find. Especially the oil pressure failure cause. Pics of the damage too.

Thanks!

Broken fitting for a mechanical oil psi gauge. Not found on Dodges. Amazining how a few cents add up to disaster. Engine may not even get rebuilt. Too spendy$$.

That's how it often happens. . . one little part fails = catastrophe. Engines don't do too well when all the oil is pumped out of the crankcase.
