A very good friend is south bound through Pryor and his 12 valve lost tach and quit charging. I beleive his crank sensor is out. Of course it's 9:30 and everything is closed in Podunk.

He had already changed his alt in the parts house parking lot before he called me. All fuses are good.

Any members close to that area? Any good shops in the area?

Nyoest, I believe you are correct the Engine Speed Sensor (crank speed sensor)is gone or it has a broken wire. Parts Store shoule have it, if not then he will have to find a Dodge dealer or Cummins shop.

It is rather easy to change out the toughest part is getting the connector apart. He can use 4 to 5 business cards to gap it correctly.

The trick is finding an OPEN parts house. Best solution so far has been to purchase several batteries at Walmart... ... ... .....

Well after some fussing around checking the wiring and the gap with some hard sought out business cards (who uses cards anymore?) the truck starting charging intermittently. Every time he gets concerned and starts to pull off the hwy it starts charging again. I suspect the ESS is getting weak and the lower rpm is easier for it to read.

And to top it off all this has transpired on us highway 69. There is better concrete holding up my mailbox post than what that road has.

At least he's still mobile.

Chances are that the sending SURFACE is heavely grease ladden and the signal is not getting through. When I done my KDP it was coated pretty good. Out of sight out of mind.

Nyoest, how far South did he get?!? If he can make it down to Sherman or so, I can help..... though I know this was yesterday... . let me know!

He ended up getting home at about 4 am that morning. I apologize that I didn't post a conclusion sooner my life has become chaotic recently.

Funniest thing is he has an '05 2500 ctd he bought new and still likes the 95 better.
