Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) slight rough idle

I have a 2001 24 valve that has developed a loud tapping noise coming from the rear of the engine. The noise is just like the noise on the You Tube Video,s

for the 01 and 02 diesels. I took it to the best known dealer in my area Weaver Motors, after checking it out they think it could be a piston skirt on the rear

piston. The truck runs fine just a Loud tapping or knocking noise. A new long block from Black Water blue printers out of Virginia is 4100. 00

Weaver Motors will change it out for 1500. 00 . I know that by the time the dust settles it will be around 6500. 00 $

I have always wanted a rock solid dependable 12 valve and now is a opportunity for that. So far it seems that I would have to have a 12 valve wiring

harness and a complete 12 valve engine but I do not know about the transmission, My question is will say a 97 12 valve engine bolt to a 2001 automatic

trans?. I also know that I would have to convert the engine to the old linkage system.

ANY COMMENTS

Thanks

If you use the 12v harness and the PCM from the 12v it will work fine the 12v Pcm will only look at the sensors that are 12v related.

Hello there sir.

If you do this, will the rest of the truck work? Gauges, windows, locks, etc. ? That would have made mine a LOT easier.

Yes the windows, locks, were on the 12v also the lights and gauges in the cluster that you need for the 12v will work I dont know about the Central Control Module but I think you could swap in a CTM Control Timer Module from a 98 12v truck and it should work I have a CCM from a 2002 I think I will swap it into my 98 12v and see if it will work
