Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) 12 valve keeps running after key is off

94 12 valve keeps running after key is shut off .

it has a new ignition switch last year after theft recovery.

the truck just runs for about a min. after key is off is this a relay?

probably the fuel solenoid sticking... could possibly be the relay associated w/ the solenoid

i replaced the fuel relay awhile ago do you think that is going or the solenoid?

Ckoski, the fuel shut off relay has nothing to with engine shutting down.



Spray the rod to fuel shut off solenoid with a lubricant (I use wd40) move rod up and down by hand that should take care of it sticking for a while.

WD40 is not a lubricant. It is a water displacement forumula (the 40 is because it was the 40th try to get it right). WD40 will eventually evaporate. Use LPS #2 or some other lubricant spray.

Don't forget that bad starter contacts will aso keep the engine running

Check to see if the fuel solenoid boot is deteriorated. Sometimes pieces of it can get caught in the spring and under the solenoid rod causing binding.
