We just got done putting together a completely new fuel system for the 12 valve engines at A. W. D. The prototype to the system was on the racer. GTSJOE and myself elected to be the first ones to initiate our trucks to be the "guinea pigs" for the new system. We eliminated the transfer pump and pre filter and heater and blocked off the transfer pump mounting flange. Some trick flaring of fuel lines adapted the system to Earls -8AN braided steel and fittings fed via a monster electric pump directly into the fuel filter head. Since these engines like cool fuel and not hot, aerated fuel, we eliminated the fuel return from going into the fuel filter and jumped it into the return line so it could go back to the tank. Joe's truck is up and running and there was no problems at all. Everything worked right on the first turn of the key. No more pressure spikes! #ad

Mine's in for the head gasket and since everything is so out in the open with the head off, she's getting her fuel system redone at the same time. Can't wait to put it on the dyno in less than two weeks to see where we stand.

Chris,

This sounds like a great idea. Just a couple questions. Will eliminating the fuel heater be a problem for northern winters? When you say you jumped the fuel return into the return line do you mean the excess flow from the electric pump? Keep us up to date on this project. Sounds like a winner! #ad

I don't see the fuel problem happening in my area. Worst case scenario is I have to plug the truck in. In jumping the fuel return, I mean the tiny little fuel return from the injectors that feeds into the fuel filter no longer does on mine. Instead it goes to a tee fitting that I spliced into the return line. This eliminates the hot, aerated fuel from going into the fuel filter and back into the injection pump. Awhile back I experimented with a fuel chiller (a transmission cooler from an auto truck which I ran my fuel through) and I got some good results. Knowing this, I took it one step further and eliminated the heat source from the fuel all together. It also leaves less lines to be rubbing together and breaking as the lines from the chiller eventually did. Another bonus is never having to hand prime the fuel system after a filter change again!

Ted,
Next NV4500, get ahold of Mitchell. Doug has those things imprinted on the back of his eyelids.
Oh yea, I am having fantastic results with my choice of lube-under $10 qt.
I hate to see people getting ripped on that Castrol stuff.

It is nice to know that JRE ideas are being put to work!
I unfortuneatly had to put it on the back burner, due to transmission trouble with National Drivetrain.
Seems they can't rebuild a 5 spd. trans. to save there lives.
They had three chances with me on my own truck and failed miserably.
The first one was hard to get into reverse, was noisy in 5th, and leaked oil all over my clutch detroying it.
The second one was installed with a new Centerforce clutch and didn't leak but Had NO 3RD gear at all, Picture a trans with 2 neutrals, some dumy left it on the bench.
The third one worked great but leaked worse than the first one and ruined another clutch.
Finally I bought a new one from Dodge installed it, and everything is working great now.

Needless to say Don't Ever Buy Anything From National Drivetrain!!!!!

To top it all off there customer service is the worst I have ever experienced in my life, I am out 4 Removals and Replacements, at 60. 00 and hour 4 hours each, 12 Quarts of Syntorque fluid at 19. 00 a quart, and two clutches.
They say; Our Transmissions don't leak Sir!!.
It must be coming from your slave cylinder. Anyone who has worked on a Dodge knows the slave cylinder is mounted on the outside of the bellhousing down low.
So How could Brake fluid smell like Gear oil and get on the input shaft of the transmission??????

Kind of like dealing with service writers at a Dealership, there last job was stocking shelves at Stop N' Shop.

I only opted for another transmission to reduce down time while rebuilding my original transmission, who would have thought it would be such a nightmare!!!

Back to the JRE fuel system.
This system will be engineered with more than the racer in mind.
