On a 12 valve engine, should I be able to remove the valve spring on the exhaust valve with the pistion at TDC and have the valve touch the piston to remove and install the keepers.....

In other words..... push down on the valve spring compressor until the valve touches the piston and keepers drop loose.....

Thanks for the insight.....

Jim

I'm pretty sure that's what I did. A gentle tap on the compressor and the keepers fall out. (make sure you cover the openings in the head)

that is how I changed my exhaust springs on mine. Just keep an eye on retainer clips they want to play hide-n-seek

I use the KD compressor (with black knob) have the pencil magnet close to the keeper area wiggle the spring compressor while pushing down lightly , they should pop loose. .

Cover the push tube holes, don't want to lose one. .

Good luck

Andy
