12K and 2mpg better

Hit 12,000 miles and noticed a 2mpg increase. Also trucks seems to respond quicker. Did something happen with the computer??

I am curious as well and perhaps someone in the know will tell us... ... ... I just hit 5K on my truck and noticed a slight change in its behaviour. Can someone tell us how long (miles) will the computer keep the engine detuned?

There has long been a rumor that the computer controls the break-in period of the truck for roughly 10K miles. I noticed the truck was more responsive after about 10. 5K miles.

The engine is just breaking in... thats all... hook the thing up to a nicely loaded trailer and drive it aggressively but sensably on a long trip and then see how well it runs empty. They seem to need this "Right of passage" to make them really come alive and get up to their true good fuel mileage. My $. 02, Chris
