I have a 97 2500 EGR. I put a #8 cam plate on the truck and had no problems for 6 months, of course I want to see if I could get a little more out of it and slid the plate forward. Took it out for a test, had quite a bit more power more boost. I was quite impressed exceped 10 seconds after I punched it it died and I can not get it to light again. It all happened to fast to see how high the EGT got. It cranks over just fine, I cracked the injector lines at each injector and I am still getting fuel to each injector. I was able to get it to spudder with a gas soaked on the intake but it wont start. I even removed the fuel shut off selinoid to take it out of the equasion. Any thoughts?

I'm not sure what you mean by that. The fuel solenoid pulls a lever that allows fuel to the injection plungers. If it is not there and the lever is not pulled some other way it will not start. Don't use any gasoline at all. The only thing it can do is damage. There is no way that gasoline can cause diesel fuel to flow.

From the symptoms you have it appears that timeing has slipped. However, there are other things that may have happened.

Email me at -- email address removed -- for my write up on the 12 valve fuel system, how it works and how to fix it.

Where do you live?

I am going to check the timing, I didnt think about the gear slipping on the taper.

FYI... . Gas soaked rag held on the intake is a great way to prime a diesel engine that has lost its prime...
