Hey guys-

My dads truck we just bought might have a problem.

its a 1996 12v

There is a steady stream of white smoke coming from the downdraft tube. WE just bought it so I dont think it has the right oil in it. No loss of power, no knocking, just a steady stream of smoke, not too much coming from the downdraft tube. What do you think it could be?

Thanks

Erik

Sounds like blowby. My 98 did it and my 01 did it. It's relieving pressure from the oil pan. Mine didn't use oil but I would get the blowby oil smoke. With a car, the PCV sends that back into the system to be burned. With diesels, it is vented to free space out the blowby tube.

When it stops blowing the white smoke get worried, it is a normal thing. What are you doing under the truck when it's running anyway, it's warmer in the cab.
