Pros/Cons which is better 12V or 24V

Of course I am thinking in a perfect world where money is no object:rolleyes: which is better for bombing?

Chris

I think a 12 valve is better for bombing for the following reasons:

1. P7100 injection pump is lubricated by oil and does not seem to fail very often.

2. Lift pump is mechanical and does not fail much.

3. $ per HP is cheap compared to a 24 valve.

Can't think of anything else. I'm sure the experts will chime in soon.

Charles

Seems to me that dollar per horsepower (including labor) for mild horsepower increases (<60 HP) the 24 V has an advantage. If you are going all out wild power the older trucks may have an edge.

Something else to consider. The 24 valve has an advantage with all of it's electronic gadgets. At the simple push of a button, you can dial the hp levels from work (read towing) mode, then push the same little old button and put it in SUPER SMOKER race/dyno mode. All of this from in the cab.

I was talking to a guy that I met today about this very topic. He and I agreed that a 24v with the P7100 retrofitted to it would be the best... . you said $$$ was no object
