You guy's were always asking for a set of powder coated cover for the 12v engine. So I had an offer for a deal on a bunch of 12v covers, so if anyone is looking for a set of custom powder coated cover and I am going to try polishing too.

Let me know if you are interested, first come first served and yes it can be done on an exchange basis.

hope this evens the deal

:)

Lets see, paint stripper... few dollars, buff wheel for a few more and some polish..... mine looks much better like this then painted, but coating would be the only other way to go!

Jim

Probably sell alot of those, Bob. I happen to like mine factory black or whatever it is. But my engine bay "decor theme" is black and shiny stuff, although I have been looking at Piers' blue intercooler boots. Now maybe I'll have to rethink my theme with all your color options.

I used Jim's method - paint stripper, Mother's polish and a crapload of elbow grease to polish the cover that goes over the valve covers. Looks great and have had many compliments about it. If I knew how to post pix here I'd take a photo - but I don't.

I'm still waiting for my chrome AFC cover. :) Or maybe powder coated to match the valve covers?

Bob,

I would be very interrested in a set of the valve covers, could you let me know the price and what is needed, Thanks Dave

Mother's polish and a crapload of elbow grease to polish the cover

I'm lazy and cheap, I used a wheel on the bench grinder for it and the turbo's

Turbo??? Tell me about that. What did you polish, the whole thing? Any pix?

What's next: soot/brake/clutch pedal covers and purdy colored wire loom? :-laf

When's the next group purchase for carbon fiber wings?!

I've seen some powder coated goods come through. There were lots of casting flaws that should have been ground down before coating... That's just my opinion, though.

Bob, nice looking engine bay! I don't plan on powdercoating anything myself, but I was wondering what you coated your exhaust with? I have seen a few different products, por15(1400F), Eastwood(1200F) and something else claimed closer to 2000F protection. Can't remember who makes it though. I don't know if the eastwood product would be strong enough for some folks making some high egts...

Andy

andy, I will send you a pm tomorrow, I have another picture to show you. The above engine compartment is not mine.

get matts advice if it will look good or not

Take it easy, dude. :-laf

I never said anything bad about what you do... just that it could have been done differently. If you take offense to some harmless criticism, I apologize.

Matt

No matter what you do to a 24 valve,it won't look as good as an old 12 valve. :-laf How about some 12 valve pics.....
