pardon me if this is a repost i tried searching with no luck. i have a 12v that i picked up at the local junkyard. when i set up and measured the valve spring installed height and put the spring in the rimac spring tester. i'm showing 85-90 lbs of seat pressure. piers said that the stock springs are 35 lbs which is a far cry from what i am measuring.

what is the height in which they are measuring the spring to get 35 lbs or are they saying fatiuged springs measure 35 lbs.

i just don't buy it. 35 lbs come on at 25 psi of boost you would only have 10 lbs of spring pressure to control the valve. hell @ stock boost you would only have 17 lbs controlling a 112gram valve and a 42 gram retainer. even at 3000 rpm being max i would think you would have valve float.

From the 1995 factory service manual:

The approximate free length is 60mm (2. 36") with the maximum inclination of 1. 0 mm (0. 039").

359 N (81 pounds) is the minimum acceptable load required to compress the spring to a height of 49. 25 mm (1. 94").
