That's right... I finally replaced my STOCK lift pump at 130,000 miles... and it wasn't dead yet. It still works, but started leaking around the plug connections.

The leak is probably from the Cummins shake and loosened the connecting points on the bottom of the pump.

I smelled diesel fuel after a run home from work, and after checking around... the pump electrical connector was weeping fuel.

My secret??? Shortly after purchasing the truck, I decided to put a Carter pusher back at the tank because of all the discussion on failed lift pumps. That's it. This lasted thru Wyoming winters, no fuel additives, California summers, power modifications, etc.

Easy to do, cheap, and lasted. Fuel pressures have been dropping, but so slight, never noticed. I can tell the pump was a bit worn only AFTER the replacement. New STOCK lift pump is notably higher on the PSI than the original.

At least ONE Carter lift pump went the distance... and I am still running the Carter pusher which I ordered from Summit. I am NOT complaining about the stock lift pump when combined with a simple pusher! Just for your info. ;)
