Competition Fastest 6 spd.

How many Hp does it take to run the quarter in sub 15 second times?

What Bombs will get you there while maintaing driveability and Towing ability?

Been reading and looks like this is no problem just a matter of $.

Too many D-maxes running around on the Juice box thinkin other trucks can't run sub 15's. I am not a racer or anything but somebody has to keep em honest.

Thanks

Sub 15's

You will need to upgrade your trans to hold the additional power, but a set of Stage 2 or 3 injectors, and a Edge Comp box will do the job for you.

I ran a 14. 126 @ 96 mph at Muncie last year. Check my signature for the mods. It was in the mid 90's, so in these winter temps it probably will run in the high 13's.

I was launching at 10-15 psi boost in 4x4 to get this time, but quit after another member broke his input shaft and hub doing the same thing.

My stock input shaft snapped the other day on the freeway, so I put in the billet input shaft and hub and 5 disc upgrade kit. [I had them at home ready for the occasion] Now I can play again!

Feel free to email or PM me. I'm estimating that I have 425 hp.

Yeah I know about the transmission that is partly why I am asking. Been talkin to the major "players" in the transmission game and I need to tell them where I am going power wise so They can set me up right. I am gonna add the power and trans at or very near the same time. I am also trying to figure out the "safe" limits of bombing our trucks. I know all too well about going a little too far and replacing parts after every few play sessions. I don't want to abuse my truck just "wake it up a little.

Would you say your truck is still good for towing and driving to work? I like your setup and would love to be in the low 14's when I do "play"

Thanks

I have not raced my truck yet but a buddy and fellow TDR memeber here in AK ran a 13. 9 with DD2's, Edge Drag Comp, DTT transmission and Piers HX40-16. I know he also has a fifth wheel camper he pulls, but I don't think he has towed it in a while.

Daily driver

I drive my truck daily, and still can get 18 mpg if I behave myself. But even when I don't behave myself, I still get 15-16 mpg.

Just a few seconds of WOT gets me into the stupid/dangerous speeds, so it seems to be self limiting:D :D

I towed Steve StL. 's mobile bunkhouse [8500# TT] to Muncie in the heat, and ran 75-80 mph. I was able to stay under 1300* EGT. I got 14mpg on that tankfull.

I wouldn't want to have bigger injectors if I were towing any heavier, or in the mountains, but for the flatlands I'm real happy with my setup.

BTW: plan on spending more money on tires if you play alot!

I don't know about some of the rest of you, but I can normally stay near 18, in the summer, a "short" 35 mile commute on interstate, and hold it at 65 mph. Anymore, it's gonna cost me. Now, on the other hand, I also do a bit of "town driving", same days... average under all those conditions is still around 16. Pulled a 8k camper for 500 miles,. . good roads, etc. . never got above 70 MPH, and the best mileage towing ever was 15. 5!!!!

No problem, keep the speeds down to less than 70 and the mpgs will pick up. ,

IMHO

Under 65????

I'd need therapy or take valiums if I drove at 65mph. Loosing only 2 mpg to drive like this: :D :D :D is cheap!!

The reason I 'bombed' my truck is to have fun, not to drive cheaply. If I wanted to get good mileage, I'd drive a VW TDI .

There is nothing like the satisfaction of doing a 70 to 100+ mph blast [about 6-8 seconds] down the right lanes to get around an inconsiderate left-lane-HOG!! .
