Can any of you that have switched from a 12 cm exhaust housing to the 14 tell me how much of an egt drop, and is there any extra power from the change?

Thanks John

I can't give you specifics. I know that going to a 4 inch exhaust system drops the temp by over 100 degrees on an otherwise stock setup. At the present state of our upgrades, EGT's on a big hill into the wind carrying a camper are around 1070 to 1120. I've seen it close to 1200 degrees momentarily in some situations. Generally, the bigger exhaust and larger turbo housing has kept our EGT within acceptable limits under normal driving/towing conditions. That is with the PE Comp set to 2/1. All bets are off when the PE Comp is set to 5/5 with WOT. The pyro flashes its max at 1600! I'm using a 14cm housing (PDR Turbo). Hope that helps a little. ;)

boatman & RADdodge can you tell me what you feel you gained with the PDR HX35 from the stock turbo?

Quicker spool up, lower temps while pulling trailer? This will be my next purchase. Barry

Yes.

Both actually. If you add more fuel, you need more O2. The PDR HX35 comes on about as fast as the stock and smaller HY35. I tried the PDR turbo before I upgraded the injectors and PE to a Comp and couldn't tell the difference as far a spool lag. As far as boost, yes, major improvement! Maybe the HX40 could put out more, but for the power I'm looking to get, the PDR HX35 is the catalyst to the kick in the pants more fueling adds. Piers is very easy to work with too. Give him a call. He is a wealth of information!

Barry, like RADdodge said the turbo fills know differant then my hx35 did it spools up very quick, as far as egt's go I can't say because I did all my upgrades at the same time. My egt's are 1200 deg. with the dd2's and my comp on level 1 and boost is 31 psi at 5500 feet.

Thanks for the reply guys. I think Iam going to run it like this for a while. I what to pull the trailer with a load on it to see how the temps are. I need to get my pump wire hooked up also.

I ran a 14cm housing on my 96 5 speed and it worked great. Barry
