14 K Fifth Wheel

Today, on my fateful trip back (see my Dodge died today) I weighed my rig. Because I feft two quads behind (1,000 LBS) my GCVW was right at 23K. 10,100 for the truck for a pin weight of 2,400 Lbs.



Admitedly, these numbers are a bit higher than rated for the 2500, my truck sits perfectly with the fifth wheel in tow, and the suspension is no where near maxed out. Tows like a dream.



I think Dodge is being pretty conservative with thier weight ratings.

THE LOCAL HITCH SHOP INSTALLED A DRAW TITE FIFTH WHEEL HITCH - A 16K IF I'M NOT MISTAKEN. HE DRILLED THE OUTSIDE RAIL ONLY AND FISHED THE BOLTS UP THE FRAME.



THE DODGE DEALER HAS SEEN THE INSTALL AND GIVEN A THUMBS UP. IN THIER OPINION IT CONFORMS TO ACCEPTED INDUSTRY PRACTICE WITH REGARD TO HITCH INSTALLATION.

THAT'S A BIG 10 4 ON THE HITCH, MINE WAS FROM REESE, WITH THE FISHING OF THE BOLTS. NO FUN, BUT WORKS GREAT. TBOB
