Looking for a new truck to replace my '02. Considering used if the mileage and hours are OK. Which of the last 4 years have proven to be the least problematic?

My 14 has been trouble free, about to turn 60,000 miles. I'll be trading in the next year or so, don't know if I want an 18 or 19.

I will most likely be getting a 19. It will be 30 years Cummins/Chrysler anniversary and 100 years for Cummins. The exhaust treatment will be ALL downstream of the engine with claims of HP increase just from cleaning up the engine.

By going with the latest year possible, you get all the upgrades and the latest softwares. There were a number of small differences between my 14 and 16.......front parksense, one wipe windshield wipers, better quality 8.4 picture, more TQ and horsepower.....

Thank you for the input guys. Not a whole lot of used 2500 and 3500 Rams around here. Must say something. Then again, I am only checking the Dodge Dealers.

At least this time I might be able to afford some frills, like rear camera, 5th wheel prep, bucket seats.

How are you doing? Sorry to hear about your vehicle in the other thread. I finally sold my 01 to my BIL. It only had 350k on it but was certainly beginning to show its age and miles. He just wanted a work truck so it is working out fine for him. Due to the VW bull I ended up selling back my Golf to them and that along with selling my 01 to my BIL allowed me to get a new 17 with payments I could afford. I looked high and low around here for good pricing at the time. I ended up going to Dave Smith up in Idaho and saved well over 3k from the lowest local price I could find. I know that can change on any given day, week or month but that was the case for me in October and November when I was looking. Dennis Dillon also in Idaho beat anyone around here as well again at the time may not be the case now but worth looking at if nothing else for a price check. I haven't checked since then but they do have used vehicles as well that at the time seemed priced decent. Though I didn't spend too much time looking at them as I kind of had my heart set on a new one after driving the same one for 17 years.

In answer to your question here so far my 17 has been trouble free with 13k on the odo in 6 months.

Hey Barry!

Good to see some of the old Colorado crowd is still around.

I am heartbroken with my '02. Lot of time and money into her.

I've looked a couple times at the Idaho dealers during the winter. May have to take another look. I'm tempted to order one speced, but the price is pretty brutal doing that, and you usually miss all the "incentives" that you would get if you buy off the rack.

I'm still dumbfounded that you can't get a full size spare tire for pickups - at least the Ram. What on earth did they change that you have to put a doughnut equivalent spare tire in?

Anyhow I have time. My 14 is still running, and I'll risk not having a spare vehicle for a bit and just keep my eyes open. I really don't want two payments.
