Noticed in specs for 2003 Ram that curb weight for long box, quad cab with Cummins HO is 6551 lbs. Same vehicle with regular Cummins is 6410 lbs. That is difference of 141 lbs. What does the HO have to add 141 lbs? Bigger injectors? no way. Larger ECM? Doubt it. Turbo different? Just curious.

Larger ego of the driver. ;) But mostly heavier transmission. That puppy is one big anchor. Cheers.

I think the 5 speed has a aluminum case, and the 6 speed is steel. It's also several inches longer, with more stuff in it.

Both the NV 4500 and the NV 5600 are cast iron cases but the bellhousing on each is aluminum. The 5600 is just heavier and therefore the truck has a lesser weight carrying capability overall. Crawl underneath a truck with one and look at the difference ( it is HUGE ). Thomas
