15.000 mile tire rotation/OR problem

I live in Minnesota so this problem may not be as bad in other parts of the country.

Due to the difference in aluminum and steel their was much corrosion between the hub and rim , I had to take a MALL with several hard Stokes to get them off,If I had road flat I could not have change with the spare without the mall. My recommendation would be to remove them and use a high quality never-sieze.

A strict tire rotation pattern every 6000 miles has thus far prevented my wheels from rusting to the hubs. However, using some anti-sieze is an excellent idea.

I am a firm believer in keeping those tires rotated and checking pressure often, usually I do it during my 5000 mile oil and filter change, or if not then at least by 6000. It may be overkill, but thats my maintence service schedule. I've got a friend that will not, what so ever rotate his tires on his truck, and he's lucky to get 25,000 to 30,000 miles out of them. I have told him repeatedly to rotate them, his response is aw those cheap $%#@ tires. I think he's running Goodyear's. Made the comment just yesterday I going to have to put my rear tires on front to get by at least to Christmas, I don't have the money right now to buy a new set. He usually buys a high quality tire with a 50,000 or 60,000 mile warranty. Just refuses to rotate!

I had the dealer rotate my tires when it was in for an inspection. (In PA. they have to pull two corners during the inspection anyway). They charged me, but it was money well spent - one year and 13K miles - they almost couldn't get them off. Now they are anti-seized, so I can do the rotations from now on.

Even if you don't rotate, you really should have everything anti-siezed so you can get the wheels off on the road.

I have gotton the best milage from my tires rotating every 5K miles. I also do the oil change at the same interval. This tends to reduce the wear on the sholders of the fronts where all the because of all the weight sitting up there.
