Well fellow Bombers,(thanks to all your help) my 7410 lb. sled did quite well at the drags last Wednesday night.
15. 34 @ 88. 65 MPH. Loved seeing the looks on the high school kids with their "sports" cars
that were dialing in a slower time than my "stinkin' sled" He, he, he... .
My only problem is launching. I need some M/T
street legal slicks so I can get to the infamous 14 second and or beyond... ... ... ... .
Anybody have any hiding around?? I hate to pay $245 per tire, new, just to play. Thanks.

Since you have a 4x4 its gonna be tuff to find cheap sticky tires that will keep the truck level. If you could find some 15" rims
you could get some McCreary dirt tires from a circle track guy. Around here you can get used ones for around $50 a pair and they work pretty good, better than a radial for sure

Did you try launching in 4WD? If you could smoke all four, It would really scare the little schoolies. Glad to know what our trucks are capabable.

bigk , i have done it , but after my output shaft finally expired i left the front driveshaft out to keep me from doing it anymore . BUT should you attempt it , wink, wink . . nudge , nudge ... you only need it coming out of the hole , stand on brake after you have the first stage light lit , bring up to about 1100 rpm, let off the brake and inch till the second stage light comes on , now hard on brake bring up rpms to about 1600 no more than 1800 , get your hand on the 4wd lever , when the thrid amber lights ... go , you may need to play a bit to figure out reaction time , foot to the floor , once you get going , if doing time trials you'll see the 60 ft time at end of track , bang it into 2wd , don't lift ... man i hope Bill K. don't see this , i'll catch some heck for it ... i went over a second faster doing this , but i had DTT TC , your results may vary , and again , I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS ... YOU COULD BREAK PARTS #ad
if you don't have the HD transfer case , don't do it ...

please don't try this at home kids , i thought i was a trained professional ... #ad

i did go 14. 94 @ 88. 67 like this , 1. 94 60 ft , this was before the DD3's and EZ in place of VA ...

Mopar muscle,
Thanks for the great info on launching.
You've got mucho guts!! I, on the other hand, am a yellow bellied chicken. It would take a naked woman draped OVER the FWD lever to get me to even touch said lever during a launch... .
Hmmmm, on the other hand... ... ... . :)

Bill K. wont have to worry about me gernading
my trans. or transfer case this way. Yellow belly disease is quite rampant at this end . .

Bad340, I thought about the circle track tires but the load range is real low. (plus, my "stinkin' sled" might get some grandeous ideas of being a sprint car or some other crazy thing like that!!)

Ranger D, I don't have enough guts to try a hole shot in FWD. Call me CHICKEN!! :)

I did find a set of used slicks, mounted, that I bought, but would still like to find a set of street slicks.

"Blue Thunder", an extensively modified lifted 2000 quad cab AT 4x4 long wheelbase diesel surprise package of a truck and good client of Performance Diesel ran 14. 26 @ 92 mph last week at Sears Point. Way to go pal! #ad
He hurt the feelings of a Cobra owner as well as a z28 pilot. Double way to go!! #ad
It's pretty amusing, most wouldn't have bet on the aircraft carrier to win LOL! #ad

HVAC, My congrats to BlueThunder. Way to go!!

Did BlueThunder use slicks to get his launch
or FWD or just street tires in 2H?

Ted J. is sending me a set of used slicks to try out. We'll see if I can "break" something... Hopefully the only thing I break is the 14 second barrier... :)

WARNING TO ALL NEW MEMBERS: I too, was once like you. Now look what's happened to me!!!
BOMBing is a dieases... . Protect yourself,
cut up your credit cards, turn off your computer and drive a Yugo!! :)

i went to the track the other nite , first time this season , trying to figure out launch technique and watching the gauges to much my reaction times are not to well , plus the clown in the C5 vette lifting at the 1000ft mark so as not to get tossed for going to fast with a passenger and no helmet caused me to lift early , but i got back in it when i realized where i was . was able to get a 2. 1 60 ft without 4wd , before i was always in the 2. 6 and higher .

anywho time was a slightly disappointing 14. 79 @89. 88 mph , it would have been in the 14. 60's i feel if i didn't lift . still faster than last year , i added DD3's and an EZ .

i am working with a vendor on an already available device to help with the launch , not having to watch gauges , when i test it and it works i'll let the secert out . if it don't i will have the device to do its intended function . also think i'm going to add a linelock .

Man times change, Back in 1974 I ran 15:40 in a stock 1974 charger, 360 magnum motor, 4 speed, car w/4500lps. guys this is no bull,
I never got beat by any car, stock that is, up to a 396 motor. Now think about it, if I still had that car, a 7400lbs truck would beat me. oh well at least it still a DODGE.

yep Carlos did well that night, he even posted better et's than I did.
his mods are hot pe,ez, dd3's, LOL . . STOCK turbo!!!!!!!, can you imagine his egt? He said he was launching at 1600 the top of his guage and full throttle from the first amber light(and full 4"). He also is running a DDT 93% and valve body. And thanks for helping him out Nowel, I'm glad I sent him to you. #ad

MM, whats a line lock going to do for you?? YOu will surely push the front tires through to beams if your trying to hold it in the beams with one of those. They are used primarily to hold stickshift cars on the line and to do burnouts easier.
