towing with 37 tires

My Dodge demolishes a Ferd

i am going on a 1500 mile round trip soon. i will be towing my toyhauler(4500lbs) through northern new mexico to colorado. i have never been on o trip this long while pulling a trailer. not sure if i am going to encounter snow or not. but i want to prepare for the worst. i have only towed flat ground and never mountains. my truck doesnot have any extra gauges. and has only 1600 miles on it. should i be concerned with transmission temp? also should i be concerned about my trailers water lines in 30 deg weather. my toyhauler is a fair weather set up, no serious insulation. just trying to think of everything before i hit the road. any help or suggestions would be great. thanks alot

If you toyhauler is only 4500lbs, you probably won't even know its back there. If you are staying on I-25, the only "pass" you go over is Raton, which is not bad at all.

As far as freezing, I'd say if the temps stay above 28, you should be fine. The motion of the water should be enough to keep the lines from freezing. My 5er is very easy to winterize. If you need to leave the water in it, you may consider leaving the fresh tank full, turning off the water pump, and opening up your low water drain points, and opening your faucets. This should drain all your lines, reducing the potential for freezing. If you do this, make sure you by-pass your hot water heater, or it will drain as well.
