Just received a call from the roadside near Idaho Falls, my four wheeling buddy is on the way home with his new 05 325/610 I talked him into buying and he has a check engine light. He is mecanicly minded but has no idea what or how to determine wheter to drive the truck or not?? Do these new trucks have a way to pull a code on the road if so tell me and I will relay to him--thanks

1500 Miles From Home W/check Eng , try this

If you turn the truck off, and then cycle the key 3 times, stopping just

short of starting the vehicle each time, and, If you have a digital odometer, the error code will be displayed there. Wait for a second, because if there is more than one error you need to write them down.

This worked on my 2004. 5, and i hope it works for your bud !

Doesn't he have the 1-800 card for Chrysler road side service that they give you when you buy a new vehicle?. Or did they chop that also?.

Dave

The 1-800 number is still good. Free towing for 70K. If he can check the codes, hopefully it's something simple.

yES HE HAD THE CARD BUT WANTED TO DRIVE THE TRUCK HOME NOT TOW IT BACK TO A DEALER--BUT WITH ALL THE HELP AND A SEARCH OF THE CODES WHICH WERE POSTED ON THIS WONDERFUL SITE WE FIGURED OUT IT WAS (damnit who turned the caps lock on again--sorry) an error from a cold battery sensor and on he went. I just spoke with him a few minutes ago and he has been running between 65 and 70 all day and getting over 18 both on overhead and figured. We both just purchased 05 3500 swr 4x4 and are seeing apout the same mieage--looks like they are about to get these motors straightened out again--I used to see slightly over 20 on my 96 with a gear vendors

Mine did that the day I pick up in Seatle (Delivery from canada :p ), when it was still easy, and I had 3 hour drive home in Limp mode, Local Vancouver dealer changed the map sensor next day. much better.

I lost a second Map sensor at 33,000 mile again.
