:{ Can anyone help? Just had an accident,truck behind hit me,I had a horse trailer behind me and he hit the trailer. Now the truck will not rev over 1500rpm`s, trk. starts fine ,idles fine, but will not rev over 1500. what is happening. sittin on the side of the hi-way `01 -3500-6sp
 
Was there any damage to the fuel tank or fuel lines that might restrict the flow of fuel? Same with the exhaust system.
 
I have seen similar symptoms when that map sensor was failing to respond to boost pressure. If the ECM did not see the boost pressure increase as it increases fuel input it did not provide enough fuel to get over about 1500 rpm. Have any codes been set, possible related to map sensor?



In my case it appeared that the MAP sensor had become temperature sensitive, when it was exposed to -20F intake air before the engine had gotten up to +140~150F it would not let the engine rpm get above about 1500 rpm, in neutral with the petal to the metal. Apparently once the engined warmed up enough to transfer heat to the intake manifold the MAP sensor would warm up and work fine.



It takes an 1-1/4" deep socket to get the sensor out. I could not find one in town so had to cut the lower 3/4" off of a 1-1/4 standard socket and weld that onto a 1" deep socket.

This is true illflem; however, if you read the post, it was the '01. Howard, how hard did it hit ya? Maybe enough to screw with any throttle cable(s)? You okay?

Is it possible that the trailer shoved the exhaust forward and hurt the HX40? I agree with a fuel line pinched. VSS detected sudden jump is road speed vs rpm and put you in limp mode?
 
Maybe try recalibrating the Throttle Pos. Sensor, this will also deprive any other sensors of power for a bit and give them a chance to mellow out.



Could be any number of things. The initial shock of the impact could have knocked some sediment loose in the system, or broken some of the more delicate sensors, and so on.



I would say a good visual inspection of the under carriage to look for anything "out of place" and the same with the turbo. Pull the air cleaner hose and check the compressor for free play.



Open the fuel filter drain and bump the starter to make sure you are getting a good flow of fuel - unless you have gauges.

thanx for all the replys- took achance and disconnected the batteries for 15 min. and that fixed it?
 
Good. Now we just have to figure out what caused the limp. It could not have been a bruised hiny. Our trucks don't have personality or feelings do they?
