Competition 1500hp?

I was at a truck pull last weekend and was told one of the Chevys there had 1500hp by a friend who had been enjoying several cold Schmidt's. I told him he was full of crap... then came home to find out it IS possible. I'm curious how many of you hard core pullers are actually pulling that much out of your what was once 300 ish hp engines.



There were some wicked Dodges there as usuall too, but this particular white truck owned the event.

If it's the one I'm thinkin about (he's from WI, was it a local pull?) he supposebly has that much power, but I bet he has a lot of it in the way of spray. ( 50k in the motor should make some power) They actually rent a sled to practice with. How many guys have that much power?... . a lot.

It's a duramax still, just had a ton of $$ put into it. You can make anything have power if you have enough $$ to make all the custom parts.

The pull was in Hastings, he was from... St. Croix Falls? But yea, somewhere in Western Wisc. is what I heard. Big money. The truck was full mod from bumper to bumper. My Schmidt drinking friend said the transmission has one gear, and a reverser to back up... ? Could see the lap top lit up when they made their one pass of the night, which is not that big of deal anymore I guess.



This truck wasen't funded with any old money all new crispie stuff!



I thought I was pretty up to beat with all you guys's tricks after reading this site for the last few years, but I didn't know 1500 was that feasable! I had better catch up!



Think there is much max left in that engines durability?

The 1500 HP the Duramax makes is very impresive, but it's still a V/8 light duty diesel. Even with all the after market parts ( billet crank, billet rods, etc. ) it still falls far short of what the med. duty I-6 Cummins is capable of, particulary in the simplicity and durability department.

IMO as the diesel wars evolve the I-6 turbo engines ( Cummins or what ever), will prove this out.
