Called TST today to discuss thier box result of my conversation(the girl i talked was very kind in answering my quest thanks TST) and TST if i misquote you please correct me.

1. How much will this box cost? "1000+ or-"

2. why so expensive ?"it has 6 circuit boards"

3. the duramax is only 895 what is the d/f "they have one circuit board"

4. what is the d/f "somthing about the injectors

5. adjust ability and cosmetics"look at the duramax box just like that one"

6. when will it be out "i dont know. just when the boys think they are ready to go something happens and they have to go back to the drawing board.

7. what is your realatoinship with pittsburg power "two of their guys are helping us"

8. what about the 6L ford " they are working on that after they do the dodge"

9. tst will 18 adjustments: 9hp levels and 9torque, LCD screen with ability for gauge read out and EGT defueling.

Comments:

1. looks like it will be a good box

2. i might have to pass because of price

3. no pressure actually might lower rail pressure as they claim it does with the Duramax

4. people with pittsburg power know the cummins in and out

5. great adjustability terrible appearance

6. edge put out their ford 6L box out before the dodge???? TST has their priorities right

i will shut up know with one last thing with a new clutch and this box it will put 03's at over 400 ponies without raising rail pressure man these trucks rock

I paid 700 for a pressure and timing box, I guess I could pay 1000 for a real box with guages. Might have to wait and see what Edge comes out with. Kinda hate to, since the Dodge boys took Edge to the prom, and then Edge left with ford. :(

I put in a TST box for a Duramax guy, it was slick as snot, loved it.

I would like to know what it is that "happens" and causes the TST boys to "go back to the drawing board"? Is it design related? Is it production related? Is it liability related?

6 circuit boards. Hmmm... sounds like overkill... and it costs too much. Give me a box without all the fancy gauge readouts and defueling. I know how to lift my foot. It's hard, but I can do it if I have to.

My guess is that they're adding all this stuff as a form of product liability. If the box protects the engine then they don't have to worry about someone coming after them. D@#$! court system.

Sounds like he means that Dodge made EZ who it is today and now they've forgotten and undertook the Ford product first. . Kinda like France eh? :)

Yea, I can remember buying a 80 hp one light box for my 2001 Dodge from Edge when Edge was just a getting started. I remember counting the flashes to see what level I was on, then after setting the level, wondering what level I was on. This was all fixed by the THREE light box. I called and got my three light on the way, in HOT flavor. When I got my three light HOT box, I sent them back the one light. I rolled with that box a long time, I stacked an EZ on top of the three light HOT box and it was all good. Then I sold the three light HOT box and the EZ and upgraded to the Comp. That's how the truck stayed until I sold it. Kinda miss that truck.

I guess it wasn't just the Dodge boys that got them off the ground, it was their world class customer service.

I talked with Mark from TST a short while back and the problem they were having was setting off codes in the computer on the 2003 dodges. Everything is controlled by computer and the interference that is generated by adding boxes to change timing and fuel info is setting off codes-thats why so many boards. You can bet that when they get it it will be right.

Right now the problem is high voltage crossover on the circuit boards, causing the engine to cut out and missfire {if you will} at higher rpm's. They will get it figured out and it will be one bad a** box!

... boy reading this stuff ... kinda makes one think back to the good old days when computers were in office buildings and not under the hood.

I was just at BlueChip yesterday for a tune up and asked Chip about his experimental 2003. Right now it seems he is puting plans for a fueling box on hold, said "... no one is gonna pay $3,000 for an extra 100hp... ", which I assume would be the cost he would put on any '03 box he develops. Problems he stated with what other companies are puting out is they are increasing fuel pressure ... which when stock is at 23,000psi ... is not the way to go for development.

How about a big ol'e P7100 pump on one of these new 2003's ... anyone think of try this?

sorry i could not resist but i don't spell check or proof read b/c if you have noticed i post alot and don't have time to proof read and spell check everything. if people think i am an idiot i don't care i just wonder if they could avg. over 100% in calculus. all the way through college;)

back to the subject after looking at this post it looks like we are a long way from having a comp style box for this truck that works well, does'nt set codes and is affordable. i will not pay $1000 bucks forget it. Edge said their new box will be close in price to their old comp. It looks like the edge is going to be the way to go again.

the Edge market strategy requried some patience, and it might just pay off. Its been about a year now since the 03 trucks hit the street, and Edge is still ironing out details. I'm with you catcracker, and I'd just as soon give Edge the time to really understand the fuel instruction datastream before they go to market -- it sounds like the task is much more difficult than the 2nd gens, as there are more parameters to understand and control. you can't do that from the shade of your backyard tree with a 6 month R&D effort.

I like the Edge strategy, assuming of course that they deliver and are succesful in the quality department. you have a pure "timing and duration" box that lives under the hood and does not stress the HP fuel rail with increased pressure, and still give you on the order of 100 HP. thats very attractive -- for all practical purposes, "almost" comp box without having to worry about VP44 reliability. In other words, thats a lot more HP w/o stressing the fuel system than you could do on the 2nd gens.

And, for the HP junkies, you still have the EZ box, which is pressure-only and can be stacked with the new edge box. Or, better yet, add injectors instead of increasing rail pressure. Or do both if you want to go crazy. then you can have all kinds of fun replacing the supporting fuel flow delivery system, including the lift pump, and maybe even the HP rail itself!

but for the moderate HP gain, towing crowd, you gotta be excited about the Edge box. and if you worry about $1000, think about in-cab adjustability and digital gauges built in, with the ability to de-fuel when high EGTs are detected. how cool is that?
