Been gonna do this for some time. Today, I pulled the oil drain plug and let it drip all afternoon. Then I spun on a cheap filter, and added two gallons of Delo 400. I started it up, let idle for about 10 minutes, and drained it again. I thought this might flush out some of the crooks, crannys & passages a regular oil change might not catch. I drained the oil out into clear, empty milk jugs, and was amazed at how dirty looking the oil was after just a few minutes. It's still only got ten minutes on it, and I'll use it in the old Rabbit Diesel, but I thought it would still look almost new. It looked clean on the dipstick, but definately had a dark, dirty, sooty look to it in the milk carton. Wondering now if it was just mixed with what was still in the engine, or if it just gets dark in that short of time. After a couple of hours, & put in 11qt. s of fresh Delo & a new Stratapore. It's bound to be just a little cleaner inside after all that.

Is Delo 400 what you normally run?

If so, this seems somewhat abnormal. If you changed to Delo 400 from some other (not so detergent) oil, it may explain the quick discoloration.
