i guess i'll start at the beginning... last week saturday i had a blow out on the way home from work at 5am :( ... . didnt get to bed that day due to running around all day trying to get a new tire... . i was told that BF Goodrich was still offering there 16. 50" tires, but a production date was not listed, how convient? :-{} i got jacked around all week by a local tire chain, was told that they were no longer being sold, so i about bought a new set of wheels as well.

to make a long story short, after some help from TReed and Hammer, i located a set of tires that was shipped in friday, and installed saturday. not what i was looking for, but hey it was cheaper then paying the man 1500 bucks for wheels and tires... ... it kinda sucks when you dont have a choice and you just kinda have to settle for whats available! in the end, i went with a set of Kumho mud terrains. . i just figured i would let any of ya'll running 16. 5" tires not to have a blow out anytime soon. ;) :-laf

I was told by a guy at a tire store that 16. 5's don't have a safety bead and that with more tires available in the 17-22" range that 16. 5's were being phased out.

that was also mentioned to me... it was a bit shocking to say the least when all you want is a replacement tire an the only option they give ya is to get new tires and wheels... .

im just glad there was a set sitting in san antonio that could be shipped in to me... just thought i would pass along the word to any fellow TDR members that are still running the 16. 50" tires... ..... maybe i outta just call "pimp my ride" for a set of 22's. . :-laf

People have tried to tell me this as well. But, around here I see more trucks with 16. 5's than with the stock 16" or 17". I dont know what it is. But, the last time I went to get tires it was no big deal. Told the dealer what I wanted, and yes, ran into that tire not being avaliable, and then ordered the second choice. I like them very much. For future reference Mastercraft, Wild Cat, and Wild Country make a wide assortment of 16. 5" tires. Hope this helps.

I ended up getting a set of the Komho Venture M/T's... . ive only been driving with these tires on for the past 2 days..... but am pleased so far! they are a bit noisey, but thats to be expected with that big of a mud terrain... .

here are some pics of the new tires on the truck...
