WOWZY, 285s are hardly "little" tires.
I guess it all boils down to whether you want your Ram for "posing" or if you actually want to "use" it to 100% of it's a ability.
Yes the 285's are all of 20mm wider.

Why not stay with the stock tires? I'm sure that they're more stable than the 285-75's. Why did you want taller tires or for that matter, wider ones?
As far as the 100% goes, with my larger tires I'm able to close the gap on what the smaller tires won't let my truck do. I did buy a 4x4. As an example a friend was trying to pull his trailer loaded down with hay out of a field bottom. His truck had plenty of power but his tires General 265-75R AP's wouldn't let him get traction to pull it up the hill. He didn't want to unload the trailer or drive to the other side of the farm to get the tractor. He gave me a call and I hooked to it. I did spin the tires but was able to pull it to the barn. Why?,because of more tire surface on the ground. He still said that he won't put the wide tires on his,but he knows who to call if something like that happens again.
A larger tire of the same style will last longer than the smaller tire. I shouldn't have to explain that one to you.
Big tires have gotten me out of speeding tickets every time.
I'm sure that the 4x2's do just as good on the road when pulling a trailer.
My truck may not be the most stable when pulling a heavy load with the 35's,but I didn't buy a dually and I'm comfortable with the thought of not having to call a tow truck when I drive it on the beach as that's where I do most of my trekking. So in fact I'm closer to witnessing 100% of my 4x4's ability than some. Just love it when a truck looks good and is functional!
As someone recommended a few months back, "If you want to drive our trucks on the beach with tires narrower than 305's,make sure you bring a buddy along to help you dig. "
I guess all the other TDR members who run big tires are stupid also right?
