I'm currently running the stock 160 injectors and have been running the #5 250 plate for a while now slide all the way back, and was wondering if I were to move the plate to the midway position that I could possibly be putting to much strain on the injectors? I have the star wheel back all the way and still get a good amount of smoke if I romp on it some from the stop light, can't figure out what to do about getting less smoke, unless I put the stock plate back in. THANKS:)

I have my #5 plate full forward, I cant see how it would put strain on the injectors.

The only way my truck runs good is when I have my AFC adjusted for some smoke. If I set the star wheel so I have no smoke it takes alot more time for spool up and I hate that.

By some smoke I mean WOT in 3rd leaves a good cloud and 4th and 5th spool up makes more smoke.

I noticed by adjusting my AFC for no or little smoke I dont feel the pull untill 1800-1900 rpm.

The way it is set now I feel the pull at 1550~.

The richer plates allow fuel to continue entering the cylinder rather late, giving more smoke. You can get more power with the plate in stock position or back a little, combined with bigger injectors.

So... If I have the plate in the stock position, then I will be able to adjust the star wheel for less smoke, thats what I'm thinking. unless (1) theres somthing obstructing the star wheel adjustment, or (2) is it like you said Joe, it's the nature of the #5 plate and I'll have to compensate for it. Could that be it ?

I also have found my truck pulls harder with my #5 plate full forward and the starwheel all the wat to the front. when I installed the 3k springs it made the power band start at about 1750 rpms. I'm thinking I would like to try a #4 or #10 plate what do the experts recommend. Thanks for all input

FUEL PLATE NUMBERS

Could you nice ,kind, sweet folks... ... .

Fill me in on all these PLATE NUMBERS,,, Like what numbers are for what range and power levels ,and what other MODS may be needed,,,

ETC, ETC,,,,,,

I drove my truck with a #5 plate in the stock position for a couple or 3 years. Then I added 215 injectors and 181 delivery valves (both used and cheap) and the truck ran much better.

Then I followed the evil path to get where I am today... .
