Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) 160 Pump Stumble

I'm trying to figure out my new 95. I have the stumble bad at 1000-1200 RPM. I don't know what the previous owner did but the truck will blow the black smoke when I punch it from a stop or when the T/C is locked. My question is, will a different plate or a stock plate moved forward smoke that much and produce the stumble or is it possible that it has bigger injectors also. I can slip the T/C when locked in O/D with 1/2 throttle. I also can blow the doors off a friends 96 manual with a ground plate. Thanks in advance!!

It sounds like you have 370 injectors. Bigger delivery valves should solve the stumble.

I agree. My '94 w/ a 160 didn't act like that until the 370s and 191s.
