Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) 1684 and power loss

My buddy has a 2000 2500 that is throwing a 1684. Symptoms are, runs fine until wot, then defules and shuts the motor down. Then you have to restart it and it will run fine until you give it full throttle again. 10psi fuel pressure at idle, did have superchips on,its off now. Put 3500 computer on off 2000 that would let it rev no problem, but would throw cam position sensor code (0341) and the tach doesn't work.
