Just started truck after dead batteries replaced, been setting under tress for a LONG time.. I get check eng light & the 1689 & 1693 codes... already had to replace the VP44 once. Been using frame mounted fuel pump since.. Think it could be where it was setting for so long? ( several months) under oak tree ...Had to wash the crap off of her before I opened the hood..

Did the truck start and run fine? If so then its important to understand that these trucks in particular are VERY sensitive to electronic anomalies. Running weak batteries, or alternators which produce too much AC voltage, or loose connections, or corrosion build up, or bad grounds, etc... all will cause erratic and potential phantom issues affecting the OBD system and potentially damage to certain electronics.

I'd suggest the first thing you do is get yourself a decent but not expensive code reader. Then clear the codes. Then inspect all major cables and connections and grounds for corrosion and tightness. Corrosion is a BIG problem for people who live where road salts are used in the winter.

Then you might want to test the alternator for AC voltage too. Easy to do with a basic voltage tester tool which can read in AC/DC. If you have questions about how, just ask...

If all looks good then possibly what you experienced was nothing to be concerned about. If it pops up again then there's obviously something to look for.

Did you ever figure out what was going on? My truck has the same codes. Right now will start an run fine if it's been on the battery charger but once I give it fuel around 1500 rpms it's cuts out like defuels
