OK, I know this has been done to death, but I couldn't search/find any direct comparisons between just a new housing and a whole new turbo. See sig for truck setup, plate is about a 100, defueling curve towards the top, but I honestly don't know if it defuels or not. When towing a hill or foot stomping, skinny pedal acceleration, 1250* comes up and gets passed quickly. I can keep at 1250* with my foot, but I know there's more power in there. Question: will a 16cm housing cool me down significantly or should I opt for a 35/40 hybrid or a 40? Or something else. Will a none wasted gated 16 stay at 35 or below pressure? I'd like to eventually step into larger injectors, but it's not really necessary. I also want to get the timing advanced on the pump, but I can't find anyone local willing to do that. What say you, oh gurus of more useable power? TIA

PS- Am I correct in thinking that a 16cm housing will only let more exhaust out, but not necessarily increase air going in?

Anyone? I'm looking to do something fairly quickly, in the next week or so, and need good advice. Thanks.

From what I have read and learned. A better turbo would be the thing to do. 16's give good top end. But little in relief in egt's. I'm in the same debate too.

Go for either a hybrid or just break down and get a PDR HX-40. I put a 16 housing on my stocker HX and noticed a big increase in lag, and no change in EGTs.

With a 16 peak EGT's will go down a little (maybe 100 degrees depending on fueling) and cruising EGT's may increase a small amount. A non-WG housing will not limit boost pressures at all but your right foot and fueling level will.

For your situation, a new turbo might be a better option for you especially if you are wanting to add mroe fuel.

Don't waste $$$$ on the housing spend the $$$ on timing the pump! Then get the bigger turbo then injectors :D If you have any troubles finding someone come on down the mountain to Sac we have a great one here! Schedule it around his Oct dyno day for even more fun! Jeff

A 16cm housing will help egt's but.....

With the combo you are running you need much more than what a 16 housing can deliver.

Allthough I haven't tried this "yet", I would suggest trying the Phat Shaft 62 as the super66 is proving itself quite well on the 3rd gens we have installed them on.

The turbo technology has progressed by leaps and bounds since all this started.
