I'm planning to add 370's and 191 dv's to my current setup. Would I be wasting my money if I upgrade the exhaust housing? Are these mods enough to require a bigger turbo?

I do not tow very often. Currently, I have maxed at 1400* after standing on it from a stop to about 70-80 mph. Anybody experience is welcomed.

What size housing do you currently have on your pickup? It is probably a 12 a 16 might help, but I think you will need more air. Maybe a hybred or a HX40 or something simillar. With the extra fuel that you will be getting you are going to get very high egt's.

I've been pleased with mine, and made a noticable difference compared to the 12cm housing. I was running an 11 plate with it and there was a good bit of lag. I switched plates and now it spools almost as good as the 12cm housing did. Temps aren't really a problem, haven't towed with the different plate, of course if you stand on it on a good grade it will get hot quick (around 1300* this is where I let off). With my 11 plate temps were never a problem, you running the 10 plate, putting in the injectors and dv's, you have the potential of running high EGTs. The 16 housing is a good one to last you until you get a bigger turbo if that is what you want or if you want to put off getting another turbo. But the amount of fuel you'd be flowing after your mods you might want to consider a bigger turbo like the HX40 Stomp mentioned. I see a bigger turbo in my future, but have to see a clutch and failing VE pump through right now. Plus, another turbo leaves me an upgrade for the 1st Gen... . OH YEAH.

I've been running my current setup for about a month or so now. The only time I really have to watch EGTs in OD w/ the TC locked up. I could probably bury the pyro if I wanted to when the TC locks up but I left off around 1200-1300*. Towing is a whole nother ball game. I really have to keep my foot out of it in OD pulling a hill, now with OD off it's the same thing. Don't have to watch the EGT gauge to close.

I'll have a real good feel of how it well handle EGTs in the next couple weeks as theres a dyno event and I am heading down to Tennessee. But daily driving I dont have many problems with EGTs (except in OD).

to be honest awray you probably will want a new turbo with 370 and dvs you will be pretty close to my set up and i have no problem burrying my 1600 degree pyro. it comes up real fast and i hope you dont mind the smoke either because i can make anything behind me dissapear.

I currently have the stock housing which I believe to be 12cm.

I figured with the mods I have and what I have planned, I'll be pushing the limits of the WH1C even with a 16cm housing.

I would like to know if I should save the $150 toward a b-1, hx40 or HTB2 etc because the 16cm housing won't make enough difference to be worth the money. Or can I get by for a while until I can save some $$$?

The 16 housing will make a difference, but probably not exactly the one you want it to. I would save up for the PDR HX40. I don't know, you might post a wanted classified for a 16cm housing, might get one cheap or look on ebay. Your 12 housing could last you, but you would have to baby it if your towing alot or racing, etc. I know a few guys who run the stock turbo (12cm) with basically the same setup your shooting for and they get along okay with it. We are all in the same boat, it's just a matter of time till we make the upgrade. Some do it sooner than others. I'm one of the ones who are slow.

A 16cm² housing isn't going to buy you anything but more exhaust flow on the top end. The spool isn't horribly worse... so I can't fault 'em on that.

It will slightly delay the usual amount of time it takes to bury the pyrometer... but that's about it.

Both Dad's truck and my '94 have the 16cm² non-wastegated housings and they were a complete waste of time/money. We should have saved that money and upgraded to a turbo (or twins) that has a better flowing COMPRESSOR section...

I think I will save for the turbo upgrade. I guess the truck will run a little hot for a while until I get the cash. Oh well.

Anyone know how a HTB2 works in a twin setup? I want to get a turbo that will work in a twin setup in the event I go that route. It's only money, right?

An HTB2 should be a great top turbo in a twin turbo setup...

Any turbo that you can run as a single will work in a twin turbo setup... some work better than others, though.
