I've been told a smaller turbo housing will lessen my turbo lag. Is this correct and if so, how do the ones below look? Will I need to do anything else while I'm doing this? I'm getting ready to do a Cummins Conversion and will be taking some time to prep my Cummins first (adjusting valves, etc).

(not sure if the one from Jannetty and TST are the same... )

I'm happy at this point with the 16cm housing... . at first it was a real dog till I figured out that I was way under fueled! That 14cm wastegated housing looks interesting?

The 92's (like mine) had a 21cm2 housing (environmental problem over-reaction), so my change to a 16cm2 was noticeable.

Your 89 came with an 18. 5cm2 hot end, so I think it's of marginal value to put a 16cm2 housing in.

I'd go on with what you're doing and come back to this later, after you've looked at some other options.

I'll agree with the rest. I went from 21 to a 16 and it made a difference but only with a little more fuel, etc. Going from 18 to 16 may not be that noticable unless fuel and air are altered too. You can find some housings pretty cheap if you shop around. Maybe some of the more experienced guys can talk to you about a 14cm2 wategate unit if thats the direction you want to go.

I went from an 18. 5 to a 16 and it made a world of difference.

The housings are all Holsets, but since they weigh 17 lbs consider shipping cost as part of the price.

Have you looked at PDR? They are close to you, maybe lower total cost???

Have fun.

I got mine at HTT, 175. 00, after I turned up the fuel screw( 1 1/2 turns in) truck seems like I added another motor, its awesome. Barely smokes, Fuel mileage stayed the same, its having your cake and eating it too.

Check around, you should be able to get one for $150. That is the best going rate. I would put one on again in an instant, made a definite difference.

There is no replacement for turbo spoolup. It makes everything seem soo much better. If you are not planning on too much fuel I would go with a 14cm housing. I ran a non gated unit and I went pretty crazy with the fuel settings and had a little too much boost for the baby h1c. If your only going to mess with the pump a little go with the non gated ($150 from HTT I believe) It takes a little cutting of your down pipe but not too bad. If your going for more power a wastegate would be good, but in either case I would go with the tighter housing.

Didn't have to cut anything on my first '93, don't see why I will have to on this one either. Just recieved my 16 sq housing this afternoon, guess I got a little job this weekend in front of me !! :-laf Just got the Regal up and going finally today also. . it is good times in turbo land ! :D

Sounds like the beginning of a little song...

No need to cut anything for a non gated 16.

you don't have to cut anything for the 16, You have to cut about an inch off the down pipe for the 14. Good luck with the new housing.
