i want to change from my stock 7" wheels to a m/t classic wheel but i dont want to install flares. my plan is to take the 315 bfg tires off after i install a 5" lift next month and put on 37 dick cepek's with the new wheels. i have looked at the photos on the site but i just wanted some opinions. i looks like most people with 10" wheels have flares. maryland is pretty picky about the tires sticking to far out. once they pull you over they like to write all kind of repair orders for tint, lift, tires, exhaust, and so on and so on. maybe some more pics would be helpfull. thanks guys!!!!

When you go to an aftermarket wheel the majority of them only offer 4. 5" of backspacing..... add that in to the fact that your going to a wider wheel and you will want to stick with the 8" wide wheels if your local police are strict.

I'm running a set of '02 Alloys on my 97 with 315 size tires and they have 6-6. 5" of backspacing and they fit perfectly and do a decent job of keeping crap off the truck since they are tucked in so far. However they have to much backspacing and I cannot full turn lock to lock without my tires rubbing on the control arms so I will be selling them sometime this year and getting a set of 16x8 wheels.

Dragrcr1005,

Whereabouts in Baltimore are you? I live in Harford County just outside Bel Air in a small town called Forest Hill. My neighbors son-in-law has a CTD with 35's and they stick out a lot!! I am pretty sure he has 10" rims. We were talking the other day and I asked him if cops ever hassle him about his straight pipe or big tires in the city. He claims never a problem and he drives to work near Fells Point every weekday.

I know the cops in Ann Arundel County and Howard County can be picky but I have never had a problem in Baltimore county nor Harford with a LOUD straight pipe.

Just was curious where you drive so I know to stay away... ;)

Oh, and welcome to the TDR although I see you have been here a few months!

37 X 13. 50 Dick Cepek Fun Country II's on 17 X 9 wheels, 4 3/4" backspacing. I got Warn Thinline flares on this pic. You can see how much they stick out. The rears stick out more because I have a 2002 Dana 80 disc axle. They are 7/8's of an inch wider per side than the 94 drum setup. This is with a 6 1/2" lift. Got wider flares to put on.

Got pics HERE of my truck with 37" tires on 8" wheels. Other, narrower axle then.
