I need to buy new tires again, and while I was at it, I'm thinking of putting a set of 17 inch tires on a newer model set of 17x8 inch factory wheels.
My current wheels are Eagle alloys 16x8 with BFG 285-75R16 MudTerrains. I would like to go a bit taller and maybe skinnier on the tires this time, too.
Is there any reason why these newer factory wheels would not or might not work or fit real well on my '96? Offset, rubbing, etc. ? Are they as strong as my forged Eagles?
Any recommendations on what size tire to run on them?
Note: My 2500 is supposedly "stock" in height. However, even with my heavy BossV snowplow, I do not have the frontend sag problem that seems to prompt so many Dodge owners to buy "leveling kits".
The original owner of this truck went to great length describing how he had to wait almost 6 months after ordering it because he ordered it with 1-ton suspension, but single rear wheels. Maybe this is true and explains my lack of frontend sag problems?
