Anyone happen to know if the 17 x 8" stock wheels from a 2004 model will fit a 1996? I know that the 16" aluminum stock won't fit the rear because of the drum brakes. Someone is offering me a good deal on their take offs and say's they will fit but I want to be sure & not sure I trust the dealer either.

Thanks for any info.

I think the 17" might actually work in the rear because the larger diameter might clear the drum and solve the problem that 16" wheels posed. However, another reason that the new style wheels would not work on 94-00 trucks is that the backspacing of the newer wheels is approximately 6" whereas the backspacing on the 94-00 was approximately 4-5/8". This difference in backspacing caused the wheel to sit too far inside and make contact with some of the steering componets. I would imaging that the 17" might cause the same problem even with the 1" larger diameter. Other than mounting some up it's hard to say if it would fit or not.
